Participants increase their work skills and have the opportunity to earn money. These services offer opportunities for people who want to work but need extra support services in order to be successful in a work setting. Staff works with the participants in a workshop setting assisting with skills to increase their productivity. When people are referred to Prevoc they receive an assessment of their work skills and the appropriate placement in our workshop is determined. Within a six-week period a meeting is held with the participant, their advocates and a goal plan is established. This plan is reviewed on a semiannual basis. Attention to task` OPPORTUNITIES are offered to increase work skills while earning money. In addition, our staff provides classroom instruction on topics such as work safety, participant rights, paycheck calculations, and role-playing work situations. Participants are assisted with the development of their goal plans to meet their long-term goals. Once they have gained work skills they may achieve greater independence in the workshop setting or seek competitive employment. Participants are able to buy lunch in our cafeteria or bring their own. SERVICES are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 2:00 on a full time or part-time basis. For those unable to access public transportation, transportation is provided between the hours of 7:00 and 8:00 AM and 2:30 to 3:30 PM. ELIGIBILITY Approved participants must be OMRDD (Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) Medicaid eligible and eligible for waiver services.
